I've been struggling to pump out any meaningful blog posts due to a demanding bike tour schedule and thankfully not too many rainy days behind the computer the past few months.
Here's my quick attempt at one now to let you know that I am in fact still here!
Thank you to all the friendly faces that have jumped on the 'mamachari' bikes the past couple of months and been kind enough to leave a review of the Tokyo West-Side Cycling & Food Tour.
Looking forward to seeing both old and new faces trickling in for the coming snow season, it's shaping up to be a bumper year!
"My partner and I had an amazing time on this cycling, walking, and food tour of West Tokyo with Andy as our guide. We loved exploring the quieter back streets of Tokyo by bike, and the ride along the river was beautiful. Andy’s knowledge of the area made the whole experience feel so genuine—he shared cool insights about the neighborhoods and how people live here, which we would not have seen on our own. Even though we were a group of eight, we felt totally safe biking around with Andy and his friend Tim guiding us. Andy made sure we all felt comfortable and safe on the bikes, and he showed a ton of respect for the local culture and people, which we really appreciated. This bike tour was a perfect way to see a different side of Tokyo. We left with full hearts, happy stomachs, and a newfound love for these hidden neighborhoods. "HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CYCLING EXPERIENCE! Andy is a darling of a host. He was accommodating to everyone in the group and checked in constantly to make sure everyone was doing okay. I loved the little stops along the way where he shared information about the area but also about general info about Japan that you really wouldn’t be able to know unless it was from a local. He was so generous with his knowledge and spent time with each individual. My only recommendation for anyone thinking about this bike tour, is to please make sure you have some biking experience. "Andy took us on a great bike ride through some neighborhoods in Tokyo where you don’t see many tourists, and the places we visited felt very local and authentic. He was a compelling storyteller and was so gracious about answering all of our questions. After a short ride through Tokyo’s narrow streets and alleys, passing residents starting their day, we rode along the river and then through a verdant park. Then we stopped for a few traditional bites and learned more about the culture around food and dining. Andy did a great job of giving us a mix of riding and stopping to chat and eating. We would love to do a cycling tour with him again!" Kim
"Andy’s bike tour was one of my favorite things my son and I did in Tokyo! It was such a unique experience and we learned more about life in Tokyo on this bike tour than we learned on any other experience. Andy was a thoughtful guide…always looking back to make sure we were there and getting all of the good info. We saw parts of Tokyo that I would’ve never known about. We rode our bikes alongside a beautiful river and stopped for snacks and refreshments. We also had a fantastic lunch at one of his favorite spots. I can’t say enough about this cycling trip! So grateful for this experience and I will certainly tell all of my friends about it!!" Wendeline
"Absolutely the highlight of our Tokyo visit. Highly recommend this Cycling and Food tour for anyone looking for something just slightly off the heavily-trodden tourist track. Andy is a gem- friendly, expert and engaging. A few stops west of Shinjuku, the Koenji and Nakano suburbs are the places we will head to immediately on our next trip. Every street and lane way was a treasure, each pause at a place of interest was fascinating, and every food stop was delicious and generous. The bikes were a pleasure to ride, and for our family, including two teenagers, this bike tour was easily everyone’s favourite Tokyo memory. Great value and an unforgettable experience.
